Effective now, a city-wide ban on outdoor burning is in force, as approved by the City Council. As per the city code, this ban only excludes cooking fires with reasonable precautions taken. The ban is in response to the drought we are experiencing, and is concurrent with the current ban instated by the Georgia Forestry Commission. The city burn ban shall remain in force until the state-wide ban is lifted.
After the ban is lifted, then the rules and precautions listed by the Georgia Forestry Commission. Those rules are listed on their website at www.GAtrees.com .
