Mountain Park is a unique community of good people who do not hesitate to take care of their families, friends and neighbors. We have had a number of situations where neighbors are helping neighbors who are in need or at risk. For that we are very fortunate and thankful. As of the beginning of this week city hall has been closed to citizen traffic while conducting city business via email or phone calls. Last night at the city council work session it was determined that starting with Monday nights March 23rd city council meeting, the council will be in person if each individual is comfortable in attending. Because the safety and well-being of the citizens is of the highest priority we will be discouraging the attendance of citizens at the meeting. The city is instead working on launching a live feed to the city’s web site for citizens to watch the event in real time. We will let the citizens know when that link is established. Only three items of a time sensitive nature but minor importance will be addressed during this meeting and it should not last very long. This will allow the city more time to establish a more interactive forum for citizens to ask questions and respond to the discussion in real time hopefully starting with the April 22nd city council work session. We will assess the need for continuing in this manner on a month to month basis until such time as open public participation is no longer considered a risk. Because there is an abundance of information posted on other web sites regarding the open, closed or altered hours of businesses we will not be posting this type information on our city platforms because of redundancy. However if any important information or changes in our situation takes place the City will reach out via the CCS, City of Mountain Park and Nextdoor Neighbor web sites to keep you informed through this most difficult period in our recent history. We are all truly in this together.
